Biography

William R. Cline is President of Economics International Inc.  He is Senior Fellow Emeritus at the Peterson Institute for International Economics (PIIE), where he was a Senior Fellow from the Institute’s inception in 1981 through 2017.  He is also Senior Fellow Emeritus at the Center for Global Development, where he held a joint appointment with PIIE in 2002-12.  He was formerly Deputy Managing Director and Chief Economist at the Institute of International Finance (1996-2001); Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution (1973-81); Deputy Director for Trade and Development Research at the US Treasury Department (1971-73); Ford Foundation Visiting Professor in Brazil (1969-71): and Lecturer and Assistant Professor at Princeton University (1967-69).  He received a PhD in Economics from Yale University in 1969 and graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1963.  He is the author of 26 books and numerous articles.  Further biographical information is available at Wikipedia.
